The Only Alien on the Planet - Kristen D. Randle So I found this little gem for $.75 at a thrift store. It was a discarded library book, with a little blue "Sci-fi" sticker on it, and was published in 1995. I thought it would be interesting to see how YA sci-fi was done in 1995.It turns out this book was nothing like I thought it would be. In reality, the Sci-fi sticker was no doubt the result of a lazy library worker seeing the word "Alien" in the title. Instead it was a book about a boy who didn't speak or react or interact with the world around him, and the people around him who try to change that. It wasn't a perfect book, but the writing average and the story quite compelling.
