Scent of Magic - Maria V. Snyder I'll say right from the start that I am not a big fan of alternating POV, and I get particularly annoyed by the Every Other Chapter version. I think this book would have benefited by a Part I, Part II, etc. rather than the way it was handled. For it never failed that as soon as something exciting happened at the end of a chapter and I would eagerly turn the page to read more, only to find that we had switched from Avry to Kerrick, and the building excitement would lose its steam. This is exactly what happens every time I deal with chapter by chapter alternating POV. (To the point of practically ruining the Morganville Vampire Books, I mean come on, I don't NEED 5 different POV's!).The story itself was good, though not quite as good as the first book, but I am looking forward to finding out how it will all be resolved.
